Under the slogan “Alternatives in the face of crisis. The value of our rights,” this October 10 marks World Mental Health Day, a commemoration that seeks to equate mental health with physical health and, specifically, this year aims to highlight the importance of guaranteeing the rights of affected individuals.
Promoted by the World Federation for Mental Health, the objectives of this day are to raise awareness in society about mental disorders, fight against the stigma suffered by affected individuals, and promote initiatives that improve care.
According to the World Health Organization, 1 in 4 people will experience some type of mental disorder throughout their lives, and 3% of adults have a severe mental disorder.
Mental disorders have a great impact on the lives of those who suffer from them and on their family, work, and social environments. For this reason, improving their quality of life involves ensuring comprehensive and continuous care, which includes health promotion, prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation, as well as social and professional integration and respect for their rights.
At ISEP, we offer various programs in the Clinical Psychology area to provide professionals with the necessary tools for the development of assessment, psychological diagnosis, recovery support, and prevention affecting mental health from a cognitive-behavioral approach.
