90% of psychology practices close due to poor management

Although unemployment figures are slowly decreasing, self-employment remains the main option for professionals in the psychological field. Creating your own practice is easy: you only need a space and a patient. Success lies in making it work and making it profitable.

In 2013, one company disappeared for every three that were created. This percentage did not improve in 2014 and continues to increase today. In the case of psychology practices, 80% closed within two years.

Aware of this trend, ISEP conducted a study with psychologists, former students, with active or inactive own practices, to understand the main difficulties they encountered and the reasons for closure, in case of cessation of activity.

The main reasons were: economic crisis, low demand for psychological services, high competition, low prices / high costs, unfair competition, and high taxes. But in more than 90% of cases, the cause of business failure was poor management.

Any professional in the health field, including psychologists, generally lacks management skills. Their basic training does not include these areas of cross-cutting competencies. For this reason, ISEP has designed a practice management course that includes the essential knowledge for launching a practice, tools for customer acquisition and retention, human resources management, management skills, and accounting and tax fundamentals. This training aims to complete the professional profile with business skills.

Under the premises of sustainability and profitability, acquisition and retention, leadership and motivation, and above all, self-leadership, ISEP offers the possibility of self-employment with guarantees of success, to break the statistics and make a living from your profession.
