Refugees arriving in Europe. Source: UNHCR
ISEP is doing its part to help resolve the refugee crisis that Europe is experiencing as a result of the armed conflict plaguing Syria. Saving the lives of refugees and migrants at sea remains a priority, especially after the recent boat tragedies. For this reason, ISEP will donate to UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, 3% of the academic fees from students who enroll from September 16 until the end of the month.
Any help is good to respond to the humanitarian need to host as many refugees as possible and distance them from the spiral of violence in Syria. The intensity of clashes in all its provinces has led thousands of people to flee their homes. UNHCR reveals the refugee crisis in numbers: there are 4,088,099 Syrian refugees registered in neighboring countries, a figure that includes 1,938,999 in Turkey, 1,113,941 in Lebanon, 629,266 in Jordan, 249,463 in Iraq, 132,375 in Egypt, and 24,055 in other North African countries. Of all of them, only 12% of the refugees in the region live in official refugee camps.
UNHCR seeks to ensure that all individuals can exercise their right to seek asylum and find safe refuge in another State, as well as to find lasting solutions for them. In this regard, the UN Refugee Agency strives to enable them to voluntarily return to their homes, integrate into the host country, or be resettled in a third country.
ISEP works to create a better society, a more responsible and humane world, where people’s emotional and physical health is treated as one of life’s most important pillars, alongside education.
