This December, the city of Tarragona hosted the 62nd Nit de Santa Llúcia, the festival of Catalan letters. Among other important awards such as the 2012 Sant Jordi Novel Prize and the 2012 Carles Riba Poetry Prize, the event hosted the presentation of the 23rd Joan Profitós Award for Pedagogical Essay.
This year, the award was given to the Research Group on Teacher Work Stress, GRELDO, from the professional section of educational psychology of the Col·legi Oficial de Psicòlegs de Catalunya, formed by Joan Riart Vendrell, professor at the Superior Institute of Psychological Studies, Núria Arís i Redó, Carles Virgili i Montserrat Alguacil for L’estrés en el món educatiu: mites i realitats. ISEP Editorial publishes two books on the same topic, both coordinated by Joan Riart himself, Els estressors laborals docents i programes pal·liatius (Teacher Work Stressors and Palliative Programs) and L’estrès laboral dels docents. Stress in the teaching work environment is one of the major concerns within the educational field. Joan Riart, along with his research team, works to offer tools to combat it and improve the quality of life of workers in this sector.
