The company CareerCast.com annually compiles a list of the most valued jobs in the United States (The Best Jobs of 2014). In 2014, the speech-language pathologist profession ranked tenth after analyzing up to two hundred professions. The study rates different job profiles considering four factors: environment, income, outlook, and stress. The data to evaluate each job was obtained through the Department of Labor and the Bureau of Labor Statistics of the United States, as well as other government agencies, trade associations, and survey companies.
The profession of speech-language pathologist is only surpassed by that of mathematician, university professor, statistician, actuary, audiologist, dental hygienist, software engineer, analytical systems analyst, and occupational therapist, being one of those with the best prospects.
