Sowing the Future: An Act of Resistance and Hope

What if with every tree we planted, we were sowing hope in an environment besieged by violence?

That is exactly what Universidad ISEP along with its team of administrative collaborators did. In a joint effort to rehabilitate a local park, they not only picked up shovels and brooms but also lifted the spirit of an entire community.

In times when news of violence and desolation dominate daily conversations in the city where the administrative offices are located, the collaborators decided that the best response was to build something lasting: a space where new generations can run, play, and dream of a better future.

United for Change

Under the warm morning sun, the Universidad ISEP team left their offices to pick up cleaning tools and, with them, the responsibility of transforming their environment. Hand in hand with IAP “Parques Alegres” and with the generous support of the Botanical Garden, which donated 100 trees, they managed to sow life in four city parks. But it wasn’t just about planting trees; this act was much deeper. It was a declaration of resistance and love for their community.

In one of the rehabilitated parks, the administrative collaborators not only helped with cleaning, painting, and tree planting but also participated in sowing the trees, making it clear that small actions can generate big changes.

In a Park Reborn, a Community Strengthens

Nayeli Tamayo, deputy director of Universidad ISEP, was emphatic in expressing the importance of this effort. For her, this project goes beyond simple environmental care:

“More than an ecological cause, this is an act of resistance”, she affirmed, referring to the recent episodes of violence that have plagued the state and the country.

In such a challenging environment, Nayeli Tamayo explained that these types of actions not only recover physical spaces but also foster the creation of healthy environments for children and youth.

“We want our children to grow up in a place where they can run and play in peace, far from the reality of violence that sadly surrounds us”, she said with determination.

And having open spaces in good condition allows children to grow up in a healthier environment, where sports and play are not only possible but safe.

The Community’s Response.

Maricela Sáenz, representative of IAP “Parques Alegres”, expressed her gratitude to the institution for its support and highlighted the positive impact these initiatives have on the community: “Actions like these not only improve safety but also unite neighbors. When people see their environment change, they regain hope. It is proof that, even if small, actions can make a big difference”.

For residents, like Mrs. Concepción Jiménez, the park’s rehabilitation is a tangible change that will directly benefit their children: “Now, our children have a decent place to play and enjoy without fear”, she commented excitedly. What was once a neglected space has now become a meeting place for the community, a symbol of what can be achieved when everyone joins forces.

More Than Just Trees

The administrative team of Universidad ISEP was involved in every part of the process. It wasn’t just about planting trees and applying a coat of paint; it was an act of commitment. Every sweep of the broom, every sprout planted, was a reminder that small actions can generate lasting positive change.

And there is no act more powerful than resisting adversity with gestures of love and care. While others choose the path of despair, it was decided to work for a better future, convinced that a cleaner and healthier environment is a firm step towards building a more just society.

A Call to Action

At the conclusion of this workday, Nayeli López Tamayo made a call not only to the collaborators but to the entire community: “I deeply thank every person who dedicated their time and effort to this cause. This is just the beginning. If each of us contributes a grain of sand, we can build a better future for our children.”

This act of love towards the community is not an isolated action; it is an open invitation for all of us to unite for the common good. Because at the end of the day, resistance is not only about facing adversity but about responding with actions that sow hope.

A Green and Supportive Future

These types of initiatives remind us that, despite the difficulties we face as a society, there is always the possibility of changing our environment for the better. With the support of institutions like Universidad ISEP and organizations like IAP “Parques Alegres”, it is possible to recover spaces for our families, our children, and our neighbors.

And in every rehabilitated park, in every tree planted, lies the seed of a greener, more peaceful, and more supportive future.
