Marisel Lodeiro and Alejandro March, both professors of ISEP’s Master in Music Therapy, have developed a project that includes music therapy workshops for patients at Dénia Hospital (Alicante) aimed at improving patient recovery.
The Comprehensive Patient Workshop Project, included in Dénia Hospital’s Art Project, is a pioneering experience in Spain that comprises workshops in painting, music, theater, dance, live painting, and mural interventions with the aim of “humanizing healthcare spaces and inviting creativity, innovation, and imagination” as stated by the creators themselves.
Approximately 20 workshops are held weekly, distributed across the areas of Pediatrics, Neonatology, Psychiatry, Hemodialysis Room, and Chemotherapy Room in the Day Hospital, where techniques specific to the disciplines of Music Therapy, Theater, Plastic Arts, Live Art, commented film viewing, and Storytelling are worked on. The workshops aim to complement the patient healing process with laughter, relaxation, daydreaming, and the nourishment of imagination and creativity.
